FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Who makes your candles?

💡 It's me, Lawrence!

Every candle is blended, poured, and finished by me in-house. As for our fragrance blends, most of our perfume oils are expertly formulated and compounded by a trusted British fragrance house based in the Northwest of England, ensuring exceptional quality and compliance at every stage.

Where are your candles made?

💡 Our candles are made at our premises in Chalfont St Giles.

What are your candles made from?

💡 Our candles are crafted with the finest European-grade pure paraffin, meticulously refined using advanced gas-to-liquid technology. This modern process — known for its precision — yields an exceptionally clean and consistent wax, free from heavy metals, aromatics, sulphur, and other common impurities. Our wax blend is vegan-friendly, with no animal-derived ingredients.

Our wicks are engineered in Europe and crafted almost exclusively from braided cotton.

Are your candles vegan/cruelty-free?

💡 Yes — our wax and fragrance formulas are completely vegan-friendly and contain no animal-derived ingredients.

Are your fragrances natural or synthetic?

💡 We use the full perfumer’s palette to craft our fragrances — blending high-quality synthetic aroma molecules with natural extracts where appropriate. All of our formulations are IFRA-compliant and designed for both safety and performance.

Why does my candle look slightly different from another one?

💡 Each candle is blended, assembled, and hand-poured in-house. Subtle variations are a natural result of the artisanal process — every candle is unique and may burn in its own individual way.

How do I get the best burn from my candle?

💡 For optimal wax usage and efficiency, always burn your candle long enough for the wax to melt and pool close to the sides of the tin. This will usually take between 3 and 4 hours at a time.

It is normal for some wax to remain around the edge of the tin as you burn your candle, as part of your candle’s design. Provided you always follow this advice and burn your candle for an adequate period, the excess wax will gradually melt away with each use of your candle, minimising the amount of wax left in the tin once the life of your candle is complete.

After each burn, straighten and centre your candle wick, and trim to about 6mm before the wax fully solidifies, removing any wick trimmings, match stubs and other debris from the wax. This will help control the flame and burn quality the next time you light your candle.

To enjoy your candle safely, always read the safety label and follow the instructions provided on your candle tin before lighting.

How long do your Mini Tin candles burn for?

💡 Our Mini Tin candles offer a total burn time of approximately 30 hours when used in 4 hour increments.

Why is my candle tunneling / not burning evenly?

💡 For optimal wax use and performance, always allow your candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt and pool close to the sides of the tin — this typically takes around 3 to 4 hours per burn.

It’s completely normal for some wax to remain around the edges during early burns. This is part of the candle’s design. When burned correctly and consistently, the excess wax will gradually melt away with each use, helping to minimise any residue left once your candle reaches the end of its life.

Interestingly, a small amount of tunnelling can actually be beneficial — it helps regulate the flame and continuously refresh the melt pool with new fragrance. By following these simple steps, most of the remaining wax will eventually be used.
